Food was fantastic!! Sat at bar for lunch and Lynn was a great bartender!!! The service was so good!!!

Got the seafood gumbo and Louisiana Purchase. Both amazing and filling. Service was on point and the atmosphere was great. Would 100% come back next time I'm in town. Just a tip, come in on an empty stomach because the portions are HUGE!!

Great food, had the pulled pork and it was delicious. Our server was fantastic as well. Would definitely stop again, as it was the only place we could find that would actually serve people under 21 after 9 p.m.

This is a normal stop before most concerts, but never had the food. Finally decided to grab some lunch & we were not disappointed. I personally love the vines here & atmosphere is so fun! Service was great, very prompt with drinks &answered all the questions. These nachos were MUCH bigger than I expected & the hamburger was good (he didn't order a fancy one). lol We will absolutely make this a lunch stop more often!

Sizzlin' Hot Take: Buzzard Billy's Brings the Bayou to Des Moines! Look out, y'all - there's a taste of the South that's got Des Moines all fired up! Buzzard Billy's is serving up hospitality hotter than a Louisiana summer, with a side of city views that'll make you forget you're in the Midwest. Step inside and you'll find more room than a gator's belly - perfect for your whole crew or just you and your date. But the best spot is out on that deck. Grab a seat and watch the city buzz by while you sip on something strong enough to make you speak Creole. Speaking of sips, let me tell you about their liquid courage. The Category 5 Hurricane will blow you away, and if you're feeling truly adventurous, try the Electric Alligator. It's got more bite than the real thing and it's Kim-approved (whoever Kim is, but hey, we trust her taste). Now, let's talk grub. Buzzard Billy's doesn't mess around with puny portions. We're talking Southern comfort food that'll have your belt begging for mercy. I dove headfirst into the Cajun Combo like it was the Mississippi River, and let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion that'd make a Mardi Gras parade look tame. So next time you're downtown Des Moines and your stomach starts growling, make a beeline for Buzzard Billy's. It's the kind of joint that'll have you leaving with a full belly, a slight wobble.

Had an impromptu dinner last night around 6:30 and went to BB. Not many there, but there also weren't any events at the Well. It was a kind of nice atmosphere with it not so many people, which is how it usually is when we go. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and gave recommendations. We had the classic poutine for apps. Rich in flavors for the gravy with crispy fries and shredded beef with the cheese curds. It's a very large amount and extremely filling, so beware. It can be a meal. I got the corn and crab soup. It was all right. A bit on the sweet side, so I'll probably try the gumbo next time. I got a cup instead of a bowl and still had plenty left. Hubs went with the blackened catfish which comes with two filets. Very tasty and seasoned great. The jalapeño corn was full of flavor too. I'd say only food complaint was the hush puppies lacking any flavor and a bit overcooked. All in all, food was on fire and I can't wait to go back for more things to try. Our server stayed on top of it too all night.

Pretty good Creole and Cajun food, maybe your best choice within walking distance of the Marriot Downtown on Grand. Ambiance is sports bar, so it's a little loud. I appreciated the patient service we got, we didn't all arrive at the same time, and we left separately (we were in town for a conference), but the waitress acted like it was no big thing and got our orders and bills correct. I have had better New Orleans style food, but it was in New Orleans.

Seated right away before a Barnstormers game...and they even have specials tied to the arena events--nice touch. We sat on the covered patio and enjoyed being outside without having to worry about the sun or wind. On this trip I got the Jamaican Jerk Pulled Pork - a piled high sandwich with coleslaw on the side for a topping. Very tasty, with fresh and hot fries. My wife got the seafood gumbo - very good, and a side of veggies that were a nice variety and a nice-sized bowl. Shaya was our server and took great care of us - checking in regularly and handling everything while being friendly and pleasant. Great variety of options for food and drink.

Doing a takeout review again. This is a now fixation of mine. I like seeing a business's ability to maintain quality on the road. Today we had a Cajun Club and Crab Corn Chowder. Both survived the trip and looked and tasted great, no reheating needed. I am already a fan of both dishes and the takeout versions did not disappoint.
